You are passionate about flora, always on the lookout for new gardens and plant varieties, or you simply like to have a good time relaxing while discovering incredible scents.

Embark on this adventure with me, located in the country of Montaigne between Saint-Emilion and Bergerac, is a romantic garden which will not fail to surprise you.

The Gardens of Sardy, are gardens that unfold around a medieval fortified farmhouse and have been reconstituted with Italian taste of the time, in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries.

Abandoned, in 1956. , a Parisian couple looking for a holiday home and a place to create their own garden, fell in love with this property.

Betty and Bertie Imbs, with an architect friend Louis Amblet, then decided to give it a new lease of life, still keeping the Italian side, but this time with a subtle English touch in the image of Betty.

“An English and Florentine inspiration”

But let's begin our walk!

Passing through the courtyard, we come directly to the remains of an arbor planted at the beginning of the XNUMXth century and which gives us direct access to the current Garden of Fragrances, where you will discover fragrant and medicinal plants.

And here we are, at the beginning of the garden! We find ourselves facing a huge copper cauldron, which during the summer is filled with a multitude of lotus flowers, and I can assure you that it is magnificent!

If we continue south, we find ourselves facing a source that feeds the basin. A pool that is animated by water jets and framed by line hedges and cypresses.

Going north, at the foot of the defensive tower, another composition is exposed dominating the vast landscape around what was a wash house, a set of terraces and stairs.

And to finish we will go up the stairs which will lead us to the terrace of the tea room, where we can taste biscuits, ice creams, and always exquisite drinks...

Les Jardins de Sardy are now run by the owners' son, Frédéric Imbs and his wife, Ninon Imbs, a passionate gardener. Their project is to enlarge the garden which will soon be accessible to visitors.

Do not hesitate to come and take a short visit and take a walk to discover the many varieties of plants!

The Gardens of Sardy are open from 1er May to September 30 from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m.
