Lou Festa Bourru or La Fête du Bourru celebrates a traditional light alcohol from the wine regions! Be careful, you don't find gruff everywhere and all the time, it is obviously an ephemeral drink that depends on the harvest period.
But what is Bourru?
Gruff wine is a must being alcoholic fermentation. It is a seasonal drink linked to the harvest, sometimes very sparkling because of the carbon dioxide produced by fermentation. It is a transitional stage of the winemaking.
The rural exodus has expatriated many former peasants to the cities and the inns wanted to serve them the same products as those consumed at home. The delivery of grape juice at the start of fermentation began at this time.
We then decided to organize a party around this beverage and to celebrate local traditions and highlight viticulture.
Bourru Festival in Pays Foyen
Since 2021, the tourism department of the Community of Communes of Pays Foyen has been organizing the Fête du Bourru in partnership with a municipality. The goal is to promote gruff, local viticulture and folklore. Thus, bandas are present, a gourmet market, and an aperitif offered by the municipality which hosts the event and a concert to animate the evening musically.
This year Lou Festa Bourru will take place at Pineuilh on Saturday October 1, 2022.
