Originally initiated in 2020 by the community of communes Domme-Villefranche-du-Périgord, the project fell through. The health crisis passed, the idea resurfaced. Now called "Odyssey Dordohna", the event has grown with the commitment from EPIDOR, a territorial public institution in the Dordogne basin based in Castelnaud-la-Chapelle.
This Dordogne-Brittany rapprochement has made it possible to take sixteen other communities of municipalities and urban communities bordering the river, from Corrèze, Lot, Dordogne and Gironde, into the adventure. Each of the stages will be punctuated by activities organized by the territories crossed.

To carry out a project of this magnitude, an association was newly created.
