“Remarkable architecture” route

A helmet, a bottle of water and your bike, then off you go to explore part of the roads of Greater Saint-Emilion in the late morning.

Starting point: Saint-Emilion, the medieval city. The morning freshness will take you directly to the Tourist Office to hire bikes for the whole family. At the start of the route, don't be fooled by the narrow, cobbled streets offered by the village, the road you will take will be more pleasant, between vineyards and heritage.

On this 19km course, slightly hilly, you will admire many castles and churches with remarkable architecture and observe beautiful views of the Jurisdiction of St-Emilion. Start your journey by passing in front of many wine properties: Château La Couspaude, Château Haut-Sarpe, Château Panet or Château Lapelletrie. Beautiful properties to make you want to continue on your way and to ward off any signs of fatigue that may begin to appear. The walk continues towards a rich heritage of Greater Saint-Emilion: the church of St-Hippolyte. Do not hesitate to stop there for a few photo sessions.

Continue in this way towards St-Hippolyte and descend towards the caves of Ferrand. What a heritage gem! You are already half way through. And yes, already! Time flies when our mind is captivated by the surrounding richness. Then pass in front of the essential architecture of the Château de Pressac, then cross St-Laurent-des Combes towards St-Emilion to admire the Château De Candale, the Château Pavie and the Château la Gaffelière. Here you are, from this sumptuous bike ride. For one last visual treat, dare to walk up to the viewpoint offered by the Place du Clocher to think about the place where you will finally be able to rest and enjoy a well-deserved drink!
