The Tidal Bore is a natural and spectacular phenomenon that occurs on the Dordogne.

It is the result of a wave which is created at the mouth of the Gironde and which then rises over a hundred kilometers inland. The Tidal Bore occurs on the Dordogne but also on the Garonne.

At the level of Grand Libournais, it is remarkably observable at the port of Saint-Pardon, in the town of Vayres. Every year, hundreds of people come to see this phenomenon at this place and particularly appreciate seeing the wave tamed by dozens of surfers, paddlers and kayakers.
